Strachankovo Family Park
Under the Belianske Tatras in the village of Ždiar stands Strachankovo. Children can experience what it’s like to be part of a farm yard. They will experience feeding the animals, taking care of them and, last but not least, playing with them. An interesting option is also a family grill. The Terasa pri Strachankovo buffet will provide you with everything you need.
Ždiar House
Do you like history and are you interested in why there are unique painted houses in Ždiar? Then we definitely recommend a visit to the museum in Ždiarski dom. The building was built according to the pattern of traditional wooden houses from Ždiar from the beginning of the 20th century. In addition to an engaging presentation, you have a unique opportunity to experience a Ždiar wedding or dress up in period costume. Among the accompanying events offered are horse-drawn carriage rides or tasting of local specialties.
Treetop walkway
The treetop walkway is located in Bachledova dolina, which is 2 kilometers from Ždiar. It is located in the heart of the forests of the Pieniny National Park and will show you the uniqueness of the nature of Spišská Magura. The length of the trail is 600 meters, during which you will become part of a colorful mixed forest. The highest point of your walk will be the 32 meter high tower, from where you will see amazing panoramas of the Belianske Tatras, Pieniny and Zamagurie. You can learn about the life of the local forests on the large number of information boards located along the trail.
Belianska cave
This cave is the largest and at the same time the only accessible cave in the Tatra National Park. It is located in the village of Tatranská Kotlina, which is 7 kilometers from Ždiar. The entrance to it is located at the foot of Kobylieho vrch and is accessible by a path leading from the village. Of the total length of 3.5 kilometers, a 1370-meter long route is open to the public and it will take you 70 minutes to complete. As visitors, you will definitely be attracted by drop formations or many cave lakes. It is interesting that the Belianska cave is among the first caves in Europe in which electric light was introduced.
Chateau Hohenlohe
The original form of the hunting lodge has been preserved to this day. It served as a residence for the Prussian prince Christian Kraft von Hohenlohe, after whom the theme room in the Grand Hotel Bachledka Strachan is named. The premises of the castle were used for years by the highest representatives of the communist regime. Many artifacts from the castle are preserved, but some “disappeared” before 1989. During the summer season, admission is possible every Thursday, except on national holiday.
